Manageable complexity, bombproof reliability, open data and methods, obsessive QA, backwards compatibility, structured data, transparent implementation, self-documenting models, well-documented code and manuals, consistent user interface, industry standard scripting and interfaces, sustained reputation for quality software. Three of my favorite things about Emme? First, strong technical rigor, up-to-date with research, the latest thinking. Second, Emme is fast. The clients of today want instant results; the path-based assignment allows us to instantly respond to any questions that might emerge from a particular run, and SOLA is a game-changer: two to three times as fast as the standard traffic assignment and the closure is incredible. Third is the cool factor. We are going to use Emme Modeller as the engine/driver/dashboard for our activity-based model.
